After recent rumours, it was announced that Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) is headed to DAZN. PBC confirmed the deal through a press release, with Matthew Brown of Brunch Boxing first reporting the news earlier in the week. Despite this new deal, PBC will continue to show its pay-per-view (PPV) events through Prime Video. Errol Spence Jr and Tim Tszyu will kick off the agreement on July 25. A key part of the PBC stable is WBC super welterweight world champion, Sebastian Fundora (24-1-1, 16 KOs). On the announcement of the deal, “The Towering Inferno” spoke to Fight Hub TV, revealing his honest thoughts on the deal and his excitement at potential fights being made.

PBC-DAZN deal announced

“PBC’s agreement with DAZN is a landmark moment for boxing, particularly in the U.S., where the sport has such a passionate and deeply engaged fanbase,” said Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group, in a press release statement. “This partnership brings one of America’s most influential boxing brands onto DAZN and strengthens our position as the premier destination for the biggest fighters, promoters and events in the sport. As the global home of boxing, DAZN is committed to expanding access, elevating the fan experience and delivering the fights that matter most to audiences in the U.S. and around the world.”

“PBC is thrilled to align with DAZN to showcase world-class boxers and events on the global home of boxing,” said Tim Smith, PBC spokesperson, in the same press release. “Over the last decade, PBC has led the sport in major events featuring the biggest pay-per-view stars and the top champions across all weight divisions. This move represents a fantastic opportunity for the sport of boxing, and most importantly, the boxers.”

Sebastian Fundora reacts to PBC-DAZN partnership

Reflecting on PBC’S deal with DAZN, Sebastian Fundora said:

“Fights should be made easier now. We’ll see what becomes of it, because there’s so much talk, but this is a step forward for everything in boxing.”

When asked about it now being easier to make certain fights, Fundora said: “Absolutely. Everybody fighting on the same platform, it only makes sense. If there’s nothing to become of this, it’s kind of a letdown, but I think this is the right way to do it now, everybody is looking everyone in the face, there’s no excuses.”

When asked about making fights with “Boots” Ennis and Vergil Ortiz: “Now we’re sharing the same network; it has to be. They’re gonna be watching me fight on DAZN. They’re gonna be watching the other names fighting on DAZN. It’s gonna be like, ‘Why aren’t these guys fighting each other?’ Now it’s realistic.”

Some will not like all the major promotional companies operating under one broadcaster, but others will see this partnership as a greater opportunity to make bigger cross-promotional fights. The first fight we thought of when this deal was made was Jaron “Boots” Ennis vs Sebastian Fundora!
