Hamzah Sheeraz Gets Dominant Knockout Win

Hamzah Sheeraz (19-0, 15 KOs) needed only a round to get a dominant knockout win against Liam Williams (25-5-1, 20 KOs).

The fight headlined a Queensberry Promotions card at the Copper Box Arena in London, England. TNT Sports were the broadcasters for those in the United Kingdom. American viewers could catch the action on ESPN+. With the win, Sheeraz remains the Commonwealth middleweight champion.

Liam Williams No Match For Hamzah Sheeraz

After roughly a minute of staying at range from each other, Sheeraz sent Williams down with a jab. By that point alone it became evident that this was not an even matchup. Not long after, the Welshman returned to the canvas after taking a right uppercut. Though he got up, Williams ate a left hook that sent him walking backwards to the ropes. His corner immediately waved a towel to end the fight. The time of stoppage was 2:36 of the very first round.

Post-fight Interview

“I’m honoured,” said Sheeraz. “I’m honoured to share the ring with Liam Williams. Someone who I watched growing up. Alhamdulillah.”

“The gameplan…is always coming and going into every fight. I know it sounds mad, but, we don’t actually have a gameplan. It’s always round by round and base everything off my jab. My jab and my power show as we saw tonight and as we’ve seen in previous fights.”

Anthony Yarde (25-3, 24 KOs) got the stoppage victory over Marko Nikolic (32-4, 12 KOs) in round three of a 10-round light heavyweight bout. Nikolic went down twice in the second and once more in the third, prompting referee Lee Every end the fight. Time of stoppage was 1:15.

Sam Noakes (13-0, 13 KOs) extended his KO streak with a stoppage win over Lewis Sylvester (13-1, 4 KOs) in a 12-round lightweight contest. The time of stoppage was 2:10 of round four. Sylvester went to the canvas once in round three and again in the fourth. After the second knockdown, his corner stopped the fight. Noakes is now the British and Commonwealth lightweight champion.

Tommy Fletcher (7-0, 6 KOs) got the technical knockout victory over Alvaro Terrero (5-20-2, 3 KOs). The 10-round cruiserweight bout was stopped on the doctor’s advice after an injury to Terrero’s nose. Time of stoppage was 1:23 of round three.

Billy Adams (2-0, 0 KOs) won a points decision against Engel Gomez (8-24-2, 4 KOs). Referee Kieran McCann had the clash 40-36.

Umar Khan (9-0, 1 KO) won his six-round featherweight bout against Maicol Velazco (10-15, 3 KOs) via stoppage. Velazco was taking a lot of clean punches, causing referee Every to end the fight at the 1:36 mark of round three.

Masood Abdullah (10-0, 7 KOs) got a stoppage win over Qais Ashfaq (12-3, 5 KOs) in a 10-round featherweight bout. Ashfaq went down three times in round five before referee McCann ended the fight at the 1:17 mark.

Karol Itauma (12-1, 7 KOs) won a points decision against Eros Seghetti (10-1-1, 2 KOs). Referee Every had the eight-round light heavyweight bout 79-73.

Aloys Youmbi (6-1, 6 KOs) got a first-round knockout win over Milosav Savic (9-7-1, 7 KOs). Savic went down twice and stayed down after the second knockdown, ending the fight at the 2:05 mark

Charlie Hickford (2-0, 1 KO) won his featherweight clash against Yin Caicedo (9-15-4, 3 KOs) via stoppage. Caicedo went down once in round two. A barrage of punches from Hickford in round three caused referee Every to stop the fight at the 2:01 mark

Sam King (2-0, 1 KO) began the card with a stoppage win over Bartosz Glowacki (7-14-1, 5 KOs). Referee McCann halted the middleweight bout at the 1:01 mark of round three.
