‘Done With Crossover Bulls**t:’ What’s Next for Tommy Fury And KSI?
After weeks of back and forth and eventful press conferences, Tommy Fury defeated KSI by unanimous decision at the AO Arena in Manchester, England, with the judge’s scorecards all reading 57-56. The fight was deemed controversial by many – who felt KSI had done enough to win the contest due to Fury‘s one-point deduction for punching behind his opponent’s head. “The Nightmare” had a successful opening round before the fight descended into a lot of holding and single shots. The judges deemed Fury done enough to edge this controversial close encounter.

What’s Next for Both Fighters?
Fury gave us a clear indication in his post-fight interview – about what he thinks will be next for him when he said: “I’m done with crossover bulls**t.” It appears “TNT” will return to the more traditional boxing journey, despite calls for a rematch from many who watched the fight.
He claimed he was injured – in the build-up to the fight: “I couldn’t use my right hand for six weeks,” despite this, Fury will surely not be happy with how close the fight was. A viable option for “TNT” could be Jamie Smith (6-1, 5 KOs). The Slough-born fighter has mixed at a good level, losing via unanimous decision against Ellis Zorro. Smith has proven he possesses impressive power and picks his punches well, and will be a tough fight for the younger brother of Tyson Fury, who has finally signed to fight Oleksandr Usyk. Iain Martell (11-1, 5 KOs) and Steven Ward (13-2, 4 KOs) are also viable options for Fury, despite not being active in 2023. The career of “TNT” has been a stop-start one – and if he is finished with crossover boxing, his next opponent has to be a step up in class.

KSI was adamant in his post-fight interview he won the contest and said: “Robbery, it’s a robbery.” It’s outrageous,” he added. ”We’re gonna appeal. We need to appeal. I feel like I won that.” A fight against Jake Paul (7-1, 4 KOs) has been rumoured since KSI defeated Jake’s brother Logan, who beat Dillon Danis on the Misfits card. A clash against Jake would undoubtedly be a big PPV draw with the Misfits audience continuing to grow, and it seems there is a genuine dislike there, which would make the buildup a fascinating one.
Another viable option for “The Nightmare” could be a rematch against Joe Fournier, with their first fight overturned due to an accidental elbow strike. While the Fournier fight is not as big a fight as Jake Paul, it could be a suitable main event on the next big Misfits boxing card. A potential fight with Conor McGregor has also been mentioned for KSI.
Whatever comes next, they will both need to improve on their performance from this fight if they are to progress in the world of boxing.
