Difficulties Making the Fight
When questioned about the difficulties in making this fight happen he was refreshingly honest. “It’s difficult because you no longer feel in control of your career at times. It really had me down. I didn’t take a fight in October because you guys (Garcia’s team) said I would fight in December.”
“It was a lot of things I had to overcome mentally. Just stay hopeful this was going to happen. The stars aligned and it ended up happening.”
Garcia has had to contend with Davis legal issues, which initially cast doubt over if and when this fight would take place. “KingRy” delved further into his concern regarding Davis’s legal problems. “They (team Davis) comforted me that it wasn’t going to affect the fight.”
Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia Catchweight Negotiations
When asked by Dan how both teams agreed on the 136 lbs catchweight for this fight. “KingRy” was quick to explain how Davis and his team kept changing the weight, starting at 138 lbs. “Man I’m not going any lower.” was his response to the weight going down to 136lbs. “You (Davis) should have said from the jump, let’s do 135lbs.“
Ryan Garcia’s Hopes and Predictions
When asked how important to him winning the fight by knockout is, Garcia was unrepentant and stated. “I want to knock him out in front of the world.” Garcia vs Davis looks set to be a brilliant fight, with both men bringing speed and power to the ring.
