Five Flyweight Fighters to Watch in 2025
The flyweight division, while not being blessed with a plethora of big names, is a division that has made its mark in the boxing world, led by Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez and Kenshiro Teraji. Gabriela Fundora is making her mark in the women’s division as the undisputed champion. Here are five fighters from the division to watch out for in the next 12 months and beyond.
Flyweight Boxing: Top Fighters to Watch in 2025
Flyweight Boxing: Yoali Mosqueda
Undefeated Mexican Yoali Mejia Mosqueda (12-0, 9 KOs) is the first name on our list. He had an impressive 2024, with three stoppage victories, including against Eduardo Rafael Perez Rangel to win the vacant WBC youth silver flyweight title. He picks his punches well and carries power, making him a threat to anyone in the division.
Galal Yafai
Galal Yafai (9-0, 7 KOs) shot to world-level status with his stunning win against Sunny Edwards to win the vacant WBC interim world flyweight title. The 2020 Olympic gold medallist is a brilliant come-forward pressure fighter who is a handful for anyone. He showed against Edwards that even when applying pressure, he has exceptional poise when he attacks. A world title shot against WBC full champion Kenshiro Teraji looks like a realistic future fight for the Birmingham man.
Yankiel Rivera
Yankiel Rivera (7-0, 3 KOs) has shone since turning professional in 2022. His three 2024 wins included his recent impressive stoppage win over Angel Gonzalez. His slick movement ensures he creates angles to attack. He’s an exceptional counter-puncher, who looks detained for an exciting 2025.
Jasmina Zapotoczna
Jasmina Zapotoczna (8-1, 0 KOs) suffered her sole career loss in 2024 against Shannon Ryan. Since then, the Polish-born fighter has won her two fights, including a career-best win over the highly thought of Maisey Rose Courtney. Zapotoczna controls the distance well in her fights and counters well, as she showed against Courtney. Following that win, the Polish-born fighter will have more opportunities in 2025.
Adriana Thalia Pineiro
The last name to make our list is our wildcard Marilyn Badillo Amaya (19-0-1, 3 KOs). The Mexican flyweight has never fought out of her country since making her debut, back in 2017. Still only 24, Amaya is the WBC international title holder, a belt she won from Tania Garcia Hernandez. The Mexican fighter moves well off the back foot and picks her punches smartly. She throws in combinations and shows poise with everything she does.
