’He Wants to Keep Working’- Anthony Joshua Impressing Star-Studded Camp

On August 12, Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte are preparing to do battle, almost eight years after their first fight, which Joshua won via seventh-round stoppage to end a thrilling war. AJ has decided to hire a new trainer for this fight, Derrick James, who has replaced Robert Garcia. Joshua is currently in Dallas training for the upcoming heavyweight clash and has been joined by some noticeable fighters during his camp.

A Camp Full of Stars

Anthony Joshua is preparing for arguably the most important fight in his career, as he comes into this heavyweight clash on the back of an unconvincing win over Jermaine Franklin. AJ swapped his long-time trainer Robert McCracken for Robert Garcia before landing him at the Derrick James gym – alongside some notable fighters.

The Watford-born heavyweight has been joined in camp by welterweight star Errol Spence Jr and light middleweight fighter Jermell Charlo. The influence of being alongside these fighters in camp appears to be having the desired effect on Joshua, according to his performance director Ben Hiney. “Being out here in the States, I can really see a change in Josh. Mindset is one thing.” Being out here is so tunnel vision.”

Derrick James is full of praise for AJ, explaining that he is ready to learn and is constantly looking for ways to improve, which seems to have impressed James, who comments, “That’s the sign of a great individual, and a great champion, someone that really wants to do better.” Spence Jr commented in the same video on AJs camp and mentioned how hard Joshua is working. “He wants to keep working, keep learning, and keep improving.”
