Errol Spence and Shawn Porter face off in Los Angeles

The welterweight division landscape will change after Saturday night in Los Angeles as IBF Champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. faces off against WBC Champion Shawn “Showtime” Porter in a massive unification bout at 147 pounds.

The massively promoted contest taking place at the Staples Center and airing on Fox pay-per-view is a major one. Not only because it’s behind a paywall for the fight, but also as the winner of this bout will down the line likely have a chance at boxing royalty in Manny Pacquiao.

That is why the latest edition of the Big Fight Weekend Podcast is a jam-packed one to roll into the fall boxing season.

The first guest we have on the program is from Premier Boxing Champions and Fox Sports Chris Myers. He stops by the podcast and lends us his thoughts on the upcoming pay-per-view. A man who is around the boxing scene for PBC explains why Shawn Porter shouldn’t be the huge underdog he is listed in this contest.

Also from G.O.A.T Promotions, we have Antonie Williams providing his insight on the pay-per-view as well as what he thinks about the co-main event of the evening between current WBC super middleweight titleholder Anthony Dirrell and former WBC champ David BenavidezWe have written here at Big Fight Weekend about how remorseful the road to recovery has been for Benavidez, and it all comes to a head this weekend.

Next, we have Tomm Looney who resides out in Hollywood and will lay out the historical perspective of this fight in the Los Angeles area. They also stack up the magnitude of this fight to the era of great welterweights past such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, and Marvin Hagler. Looney also will lend his view of the battle this weekend as well.

To close out the show is Marquis Johns, Senior Writer of BigFightWeekend.com to provide his two cents of the pay-per-view. As well, he’ll roll out the ramifications of the fight and what to look for in the main event and more.

It’s a jam-packed podcast, and this one is good. If you haven’t already, please subscribe and rate the podcast on iTunes and feel free to send us feedback. Enjoy and see why this one is being ranked b those who are listening!

Marquis Johns is a unknown humorist and avid boxing fan. His love for the sweet science goes back to when matches were 15 rounds and has been covering fights since closed-circuit pay-per-views. Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth is not only a quote by Mike Tyson, it's also a pretty good reminder to keep your guard up.
