On December 27 Matchroom Boxing announced its latest recruit: rising super featherweight star Zaquin Moses (1-0, 0 KOs), who has signed a promotional agreement. The announcement via X also revealed the exciting prospect will be fighting on the Diego Pacheco-Steve Nelson undercard.

What Zaquin Moses Brings to Matchroom Boxing
Moses, the younger cousin of the undefeated WBC Lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson enjoyed a successful amateur career, winning three national championships, and defeating the highly regarded Curmel Moton in 2023. He made his professional debut on the undercard of Jaron Ennis and Bam Rodriguez where he defeated Michael Ruiz by unanimous decision. All three judges scored the bout 40-36 in favour of the New Jersey fighter.

Many new professionals look rushed on their debut, but Moses looked composed and in full control. Anyone who has seen the 19-year-old will vouch he varies his attacks impressively and is solid defensively. He has solid boxing fundamentals, working smartly behind an effective jab.

Following the recent defeats of Marc Castro and Jalil Hackett, the Matchroom Sport Chairman fired back at his critics: “If you can’t beat those guys, you’re not the fighter I thought you are, and if you lose tonight it’s not the end of the road for you,” Hearn told IFL TV. “You’ve got to rebuild, and you’ve got to come back better.”
