Ahead of this fascinating match-up, Zayas spoke to Fight Hub TV, where he questioned the resume of Jaron Ennis, while sending a warning to the Philadelphia fighter.

Xander Zayas vs Boots Ennis set for Brooklyn battle on June 27

Zayas (23-0, 13 KOs) will defend his WBO and WBA super welterweight titles against Ennis. He unified the titles in January, winning a split decision against Abass Baraou to put himself at the top of the division. He became a world champion, defeating Jorge Garcia Perez to win the WBO championship.

Ennis (35-0, 31 KOs) will aim to become a two-weight world champion by defeating Zayas. The Philadelphia native unified at welterweight, delivering a career-best performance to defeat Eimantas Stanionis to add the WBA strap to his IBF crown, before announcing he was moving to 154 pounds. In his first fight at the weight, he destroyed Uisma Lima inside a round to collect the interim WBA title.

“All the fighters that he has knocked out, all the fighters that he has fought in the last 10 fights, where he actually started fighting big names, they’re all tailor-made for him. They’re all tailor-made for Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. None of those fighters fights like me. None of those fighters have even the style or come close to the style that I bring to the table.

“I’m a boxer-puncher. I know how to counter, I know how to use my speed, I know how to use my angles. I know how to use my jab. Most of these fighters, they’re just come-forward fighters. Shorter than him, skinnier than him, smaller than him. You guys saw the press conference. There’s no advantage here. We’re both the same height. I’m a bit taller than him, definitely bigger than him, and a fighter that is as athletic as he is.

“So, he has never experienced something like this, and come June 27, I will show it. You’ll see, he just won’t have an answer. His team won’t have an answer. And when he doesn’t have an answer, or his team doesn’t have an answer, he won’t know what to do, and he will look and feel uncomfortable. You’ll see.”
