Golden Boy Promotions Announce Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Serhii Bohachuk
Ortiz, Bohachuk and De La Hoya Have Their Say
The Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino will be the venue for two KO artists to collide for the interim WBC welterweight title. Ortiz Jr, (21-0, 21 KOs) has demolished every opponent he has faced, including Fredrick Lawson and Thomas Dulorme in rapid time. The Texan fighter was removed from the stacked August 3 card after his opponent Tim Tszyu withdrew due to the cut he sustained against Sebastien Fundora, failing to heal. The cancellation led to this fight landing on August 10.
Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) has also been destructive in his career, winning by KO against Patrick Allotey and Nathaniel Gallimore. The Ukrainian is heavy-handed but he has never fought anyone on the level of Ortiz Jr. who despite a long layoff, has returned in style with two wins out of two this year.
