Usyk vs Dubois 2: Carl Froch Gives His Take
Usyk and Dubois first met on August 26, 2023, in Stadion Wroclaw, Wroclaw, Poland, with Usyk winning by ninth-round KO. The Ukrainian was in control for most of the fight, utilising his slick footwork to keep the pressure on throughout, ultimately grinding the Brit down. Some felt Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) scored a legitimate knockdown in the fifth round, but it was correctly ruled a low blow.
The rematch between Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) and Dubois will give the Brit a unique opportunity to hold all four major belts at heavyweight. Standing in his way is the mercurial Ukrainian Usyk, who despite being 38 years old, shows no signs of slowing down. He was brilliant in both victories over Fury, and Dubois will face a tough challenge in his bid to dethrone the unified champion.
Can Dubois Shock the World?
When asked about Usyk vs Dubois 2 and whether Dubois could shock the world, Carl Froch was clear: “Can he shock the world in one word? Yes. He can because Usyk is 38. Dubois is young, fresh and hungry. The first fight was close andDubois was unsure of himself. He’s then gone and flattened AJ. You’ve got to say that Dubois is a different machine.
“Time waits for no man as the saying goes and I just think that this is a fight. It’s exciting, it’s a good fight. You’ve gotta make Usyk the favourite, but it is a fight that Daniel Dubois can definitely win.”
