Trainer Brian McIntyre Arrested For Loaded Gun At Manchester Airport

Off helping orchestrate a tremendous win for popular middleweight Chris Eubank Jr. Saturday night in Manchester, England, American trainer Brian McIntyre is in hot water with British authorities for trying to bring a loaded handgun through the security checkpoint Sunday at the Manchester airport.

The Daily Mail of London broke the story Monday that the 53 year old McIntyre, on the left in the above photo with Eubank Jr., was taken into custody late Sunday morning while trying to fly to Atlanta, GA.

From their item:

“The suitcase was checked in with little attempt to conceal the weapon, it is thought. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: ‘At around 10:45 am on Sunday 3 September 2023, officers were called to reports of a possible firearm being found in hold luggage by airport staff at Manchester Airport.

“After initial inspection by security staff, GMP officers attended, and the firearm was seized.,” a spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Ariport told the paper Monday. “Subsequently, a man has been arrested for possession of a firearm and remains in custody for further questioning.”

That man was later confirmed to be McIntyre.

McIntyre, a former boxer, who also notably trains newly crowned undisputed welterweight champ Terence Crawford, was in England in the corner for the first time with Eubank. Eubank avenged a knockout loss to fellow Brit Liam Smith, when he turned the tables in the Boxxer Promotions main event Saturday night in Manchester and eventually, stopped Smith in the 10th round.

McIntyre Facing Serious Consequences

The Daily Mail further reports that under British law McIntyre could face up to five years in prison, if convicted on the charge of having the gun at the airport

It’s not clear Monday morning U.S. time if Mcintyre is still in custody? However, there has been no report of a court hearing prior to release for him like is customary in the United States on serious charges.

Eubank’s team, which includes his famous fighting father from the 90s Chris Sr., declined comment Monday morning to the Daily Mail.
