Saul Sanchez Ready For Gonzalez Friday Night

Thompson Boxing Promotions’ top contender, Saul “The Beast” Sanchez (15-1, 8 KOs), will be looking to make a statement in his first bout of 2021 this Friday, March 19th, when he takes on Frank “El Castigador” Gonzalez (8-1, 4 KOs), in a bout scheduled for 10-rounds.

The card, which will be promoted by All-Star Boxing and televised on Telemundo, will see Sanchez competing for the WBA Fedecentro Bantamweight title, which will take place at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC in Tampa, Florida. Please check your local listing for the channel and designated time.

Here is what Saul Sanchez had to say about fighting for the WBA Fedecentro Bantamweight title, training with Manny Robles, his matchup with Frank Gonzalez, and how far he is from a world title opportunity.

On making his 2021 debut on Telemundo:

“This is another great opportunity to fight on Telemundo, the premier Spanish network for boxing. I had an incredible performance last time I fought on Telemundo, and I plan to do the same in this fight. I know I’m close to getting a very big fight. There are some major fights down the road, which are coming shortly.”

On recent training camp:

“My training camp was great, working with coach Manny Robles and Edgar Jasso was amazing. I am learning a lot in the gym, and I’m being pushed daily. I got a lot of hunger in me and I’m a motivated fighter. I feel like I am coming into my own.”

On what a win will do for his career:

“This will be a major win as I will pick up the WBA Fedecentro Bantamweight title, which means that I will get a higher world ranking, and that sets up the fights I have been hoping for against the best fighters in the division. A win will get me that much closer to my dream of boxing a world champion.”

On his matchup with Gonzalez:

“Frank Gonzalez is a good fighter, but I also see he makes a lot of mistakes. I’m going to capitalize on those mistakes, and I feel like he is the perfect opponent for me at this time. I’m going to show the world what I am truly capable of, and prove that I’m worthy of a top 15 ranking.”
