Naoya Inoue Destroys Dasmarinas In Three

“The Monster” Naoya Inoue was in action Saturday night for the latest Unified World Bantamweight title defense against “Hot ‘N Spicy” Michael Dasmarinas and made short order of him to retain, stopping him in three rounds.

The official time 2:45 in round three in what was a quick night of “one-way traffic” for Inoue.

The contest that aired on ESPN from the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Saturday night was no shocker, as the Filipino Dasmarinas came into the contest a huge underdog. The fight played out as much as Inoue retains his WBA and IBF Bantamweight titles.

The build-up to this contest was Dasmarinas, who came into the bout as the mandatory challenger by the IBF but hasn’t been in action since October 2019.

Once the bell rang, Dasmarinas kept on the outside of Inoue and kept his distance away from him. That worked until a body shot left to the ribs landed in the second round. Dasmarinas beat the count, but spent the rest of the round fending off Inoue, who was looking for an opening to close the show.

Once the third round started, anyone still watching the broadcast late on the East coast was waiting on a matter of when, and not if, this would be over. That happened with a minute left in the round, where Dasmarinas was sent down, again. He somehow beat the ten count from it, but was met with a body shot that signaled the end of Dasmarinas and this contest.

Sixty five percent of the power shots (31 out of 48) landed with 17 body shots for Inoue is all you need to know about this one as it was pretty much one-way traffic over an outgunned Dasmarinas.

With the win, Inoue remains undefeated, including 14 KOs in his last 16 fights and will await another matchup.

Still, it may be a while for unification. It was made today the unification bout in the division between Nordito Donaire and John Riel Casimero was made today.
