On Friday, July 26, Puerto Rican star Jan Paul Rivera (10-0, 6 KOs) extended his 100% professional record with an impressive win over Justin Goodson (8-1, 8 KOs) at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, FL. The featherweight bout was the main event of the Most Valuable Prospects 7 card live on DAZN. The prospects series from MVP is in association with Boxlab Promotions serving as the official licensed promoter. It was an entertaining card with plenty of KOs.

23-year-old featherweight prospect Rivera started quickly in the bout, showing his speed and precision, picking off Goodson almost at will. Rivera let his opponent feel his power in round three, unleashing a heavy right hook, that sent his opponent crashing to the canvas. The Salinas native did not let up throughout, landing heavy accurate shots.

Round seven was the end, as Rivera landed back-to-back knockdowns, which sealed a destructive seventh-round TKO. The performance earned him the Caribe Royale Performance of the Night bonus. Unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano praised her fellow Puerto Rican for his performance, noting that: “school [was] in session.”

Undercard

In the co-main event, undefeated Cuban Dainier Pero (8-0, 6 KOs) showcased his impressive skills and power against James Evans (7-2-2, 7 KOs) in their heavyweight contest. Pero mixed his punches well, knocking his opponent down twice in round four. The impressive Cuban hurt Evans again in round five, dropping him on two more occasions. The Cuban Olympian again dropped his opponent in round five, ending the fight.

In a heavyweight contest, David Garcia (7-0, 4 KOs) returned to the prospects series defeating Domincc Hardy (6-3, 4 KOs) by first-round TKO.

24-year-old super lightweight prospect Sean Mason (12-0, 9 KOs) defeated Thomas Guillemette (8-2, 4 KOs) showcasing his impressive boxing skills, picking his punches well throughout. Mason landed a brutal body shot in round four, that knocked Guillemette out.

Preliminary Fights

Damazion Vanhouter (7-0, 4 KOs) made quick work of Cody Kerr (3-3-1, 1 KO), stopping him at 56 seconds in the first round of their cruiserweight bout.

Krystal Rosado (4-0, 2 KOs) the first signed fighter by Amanda Serrano continued her impressive start to her professional career stopping Veronika Dmitriyeva (1-2, 0 KOs) in the fourth round of their bantamweight fight

Highly touted 18x national champion Kaipo Gallegos (6-0-1, 5 KOs) showed his talent, defeating Armando Frausto (10-5-1, 5 KOs) by fourth-round TKO in their lightweight bout.

In the opening fight of the night, Roberto Rivera Gomez (4-0, 2 KOs) won comfortably by unanimous decision against Carlos Dos Santos Rocha (3-5, 2 KOs) in a featherweight contest with the judges scorecards reading 60-54 x3.
