Manny Pacquiao-Errol Spence Lands At T-Mobile Arena

One of the highly anticipated fights of 2021 has an official home in Las Vegas. This, as the Manny Pacquiao-Errol Spence World Welterweight Title showdown will happen at the T-Mobile Arena on the Vegas strip.

The Arena’s official social media account put out the official confirmation late morning Pacific time on Wedneday,

The announcement comes as only a slight surprise that it won’t be at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, where Pacquiao has fought so many legendary opponents like Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather.

There was also speculation that the fight would be held on that third weekend of August at Allegiant Stadium, the home of the Las Vegas Raiders. However, WWE Professional Wrestling secured that 65,000 venue first for it’s “Summer Slam” Pay Per View first.

Pacquiao is the WBA’s “Champion in recess” at 147 lbs., is 62-7-2 and he defeated Adrian Broner on PPV by decision in the first fight of his Premier Boxing Champions deal in January of 2019. He then took the WBA World Welterweight title off Keith Thurman with a stirring 12 round performance in July of that year, but has not fought since.

Both of those bouts were also at the MGM Grand two years ago

As for the 27-0, 21 KOs Spence, he was last in action in December on a PBC/Fox Sports PPV, when he decisioned Danny Garcia at AT&T Stadium to retain his two titles. It was his return to the ring after a horrific, rollover one car crash in October of 2019, where he was ejected from his vehicle, but escaped serious injury or death.

Spence was out of action for 14 months after having beaten Shawn Porter in Los Angeles just two weeks before the car wreck in September of 2019. The effects of the accident and the Covid 19 pandemic delayed Spence for over a year before getting back in the ring with Garcia.

The T-Mobile Arena is the home to the Las Vegas Knights of the NHL, and it will also play host on July 24th to the WBC Heavyweight Championship third fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. The venue has hosted boxing PPVs in the past, including a Canelo Alvarez title fight in 2016.

There will be a pre-sale of tickets ranging from as much as $2,500 ringside to $105 in the upper corners will be available to the public on Friday.
