Latest Update on Katie Taylor vs. Chantelle Cameron Trilogy Fight

2023 saw two memorable encounters where Chantelle Cameron (18-1, 8 KOs) first defeated Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) in the Irish fighter’s homecoming fight. The Bray native got her revenge on “Il Capo” winning a thrilling rematch on November 25 at the 3Arena in Dublin. Since their rematch, many have asked when the anticipated third fight will take place, with Cameron now providing the latest via her personal Instagram on a potential trilogy fight between the two stars.

Cameron vs. Taylor

On her Instagram, Cameron announced that she had an update on talks regarding the possibility of a Taylor trilogy fight: “I have agreed to a massive purse reduction to make this fight happen financially as this was what I was told was the hold-up from the fight being agreed.

“The reason is because I wanted to create my own legacy. Now it looks like Katie will take a ‘keep busy’ fight and avoid me as I think she knows that certain things that went her way in the last fight won’t happen again. Sorry to the actual boxing fans who wanted to see this fight but the trilogy not happening is down to Katie and her team and not me.”

The First Two Fights Recapped

During their first fight, Cameron played the aggressor role perfectly, working smart on the inside, attacking the body of Taylor – while the Irish fighter failed to get her normal combination punching going. Cameron did enough to win, with the judges scorecards reading 95-95 and 96-94 x2.

During the second fight, Taylor controlled the distance superbly, working well on the inside and outside, landing eye-catching combinations. Cameron had her moments, but the more telling work came from the Irish fighter, and the judge’s scorecards agreed as they read 95-95, 98-92 and 96-94 for “KT.”

Despite a ‘keep busy’ fight seeming likely for the Irish legend next – like many in the boxing world – we hope the trilogy fight gets made sooner rather than later.
