Undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall went head to head for the first time as they met at their launch press conference in Scotland on Tuesday as both unbeaten fighters will face for undisputed super-lightweight supremacy at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on February 26, live on Sky Sports in the UK and on ESPN+ in the United States.

The press conference took place in Edinburgh, and both defending champion Taylor Taylor (18-0, 13 KOs) and challenger Catterall (26-0, 13 KOs) made their intentions perfectly clear today.

Josh Taylor stated: “Jack is a very good fighter. He’s 26-0 and has been knocking on the door of world titles for a few years now. He has worked hard to achieve these goals, and my job is to make sure he doesn’t get anywhere near them.

“Everybody is already asking me about what’s next. They’re overlooking Jack, but me and my team are not doing. We know he’s a dangerous fighter and talented. We’ve seen fighters in recent history look past their opponent and it goes wrong.

“I’m not talking about what’s next, I’ve got to get past Jack first. He has got my full attention and focus. I’m excited to be back in Scotland, and it will be my first time boxing at home since May 2019.

“My last few fights have been in front of either no crowd or a limited crowd, so now I’m excited to be back at the Hydro and it will be a cauldron of an atmosphere.”

Jack Catterall said: “It’ll mean the world to me to become world champion. It doesn’t matter where the fight takes place, and I’m more than happy to go to Scotland. Josh’s fans add an energy to the event.

“I’ll get up there and take the belts back to England. Josh has never fought anybody like me, and I know that on my day if I perform at my best then I can beat him.

“This is a massive fight for Britain. A lot of people will be travelling from England to Scotland, so it’s good to have an an army there to support me. Myself, Jamie and Nigel have been studying Josh, and there’s certainly stuff we can implement to beat him on February 26.”
