Jessica McCaskill Embraced Chicago Blizzard In Training

Undisputed Women’s World Welterweight Champ Jessica McCaskill is readying for her rematch with Cecilia Braekhus coming in March. And, while the recent blizzard in the Middle of the U.S. has created a nightmare on all levels for tens of millions of people, McCaskill made clear earlier this week that she wouldn’t let massive snow drifts and clogged roads stop her from training.

McCaskill, who’s from St. Louis originally but now lives and trains in Chicago, has seen over two feet of snow over the past week.  Still, she took to the roadways in what was an apparent early morning “road work” session that ended up being more of an adventure on the scale of  Sylvester Stallone’s “Rocky” running in the “Russian” snow training to fight Ivan Drago in “Rocky IV.”

Observe in this video,

Her trainer Ricky Ramos can be heard in the video saying of McCaskill,

“All heart. That’s Jessica. Running in the f—nig snow. Allll heart. Get ready to work.”

It’s not clear how long or far that McCaskill ran in the at least two feet of the “fluffy white stuff.” But, it cannot be disputed that she was dedicated to even be out in the frigid temperatures looking to do some road work.

McCaskill (9-2 3 KOs) became a two-weight World champion in just her 11th pro outing last August in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That’s when she stunned the previous 10 year, 25 fight defense streak of Women’s Undisputed champ Braekhus by majority 10 round decision.

McCaskill, who was a 6-1 underdog at most online sports books, was the quicker puncher landing straight rights and combinations, as Braekhus seemed a step slow in the early rounds. Gradually, the fighter known as the “First Lady,” started to land some. However, McCaskill was never in trouble, much less down, and rallied to win the seventh and the ninth rounds, as well.

McCaskill and Brækhus will rematch for the Undisputed belts on a stacked card on March 13 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, live worldwide on DAZN. That card is topped by the rematch between Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez.

And, here’s hoping that McCaskil can find a little less treacherous conditions to get some of her conditioning in over the next four weeks.
