Matchroom Documentary

Just days before the two meet in the ring, Matchroom Boxing released a short documentary on their YouTube channel. Titled “Make The Days Count,” it provides viewers a glimpse into the training camps of both fighters. Rodríguez, who currently holds the WBO flyweight title, trains with Robert Garcia in Riverside, CA.

I’m a lot more motivated,” says Rodríguez in the documentary. “Everyday I think about my daughter. I want to provide everything for her. I’m going extra hard, harder than I ever have before.

Jesse Rodríguez on Sunny Edwards

In addition to expressing his preparedness for the bout, Rodríguez also provided his thoughts on Edwards.

He’s a very good fighter, very technical, very skilful. He’s fast, smart.

I knew one day down the line we’re gonna meet up, and here it is. Dec. 16, it’s gonna go down in Arizona.

Despite the praise for his opponent, Rodríguez was also clear to state that he believes he will come out on top.

He hasn’t been inside the ring with a fighter with skills like mine, and then I have power on top of that. I feel like I do have what it takes to not only drop him but finish the fight early.

Towards the end of the documentary, Rodríguez also directs a message towards Edwards.

You ready? I just know I’m coming 100 per cent ready and I’m coming to win. I don’t care what it takes. I’m gonna take your belt and I’m taking your “0” and I’m going home with both belts. I’m gonna knock you out.
