Janibek Alimkhanuly vs. Andrei Mikhailovich: Press Conference Quotes and Fight Prediction

Janibek Alimkhanuly (15-0, 10 KOs) and Andrei Mikhailovich (21-0, 13 KOs) will finally look to face each other on Friday.

The two middleweights headline a No Limit Boxing Promotions card at The Star in Sydney, Australia. Boxing fans in the United States can catch the action live on ESPN+. Those in Australia can do so with Fox Sports and Kayo Sports. Sky will be carrying the action for those in New Zealand. Those in the United Kingdom can watch on Sky Sports+.

Alimkhanuly and Mikhailovich were originally going to face each other on July 13 in Las Vegas, NV. However, severe dehydration resulted in Alimkhanuly having to withdraw from the bout. The fight was eventually rescheduled to October 4. Alimkhanuly is the IBF and WBO middleweight world champion. However, only the IBF title will be at stake as the WBO declined to sanction the fight.

Ahead of their clash, both fighters spoke at a press conference. Below is some of what they had to say.

Janibek Alimkhanuly vs. Andrei Mikhailovich Press Conference Quotes

Janibek Alimkhanuly

Day after tomorrow is going to be a very hard day for you,” said Alimkhanuly in Kazakh, which was then translated into Russian, after which his manager Egis Klimas translated to English. “So I’m going to show you…”

“What had happened [in Las Vegas] had happened, but on Friday night he [Mikhailovich] might go looking for the fifth corner in the ring so I’m going to show to him…”

Andrei Mikhailovich

“Welcome everybody to the Andrei Mikhailovich show,” said Mikhailovich. “Feels good to be in Sydney, man. The whole Vegas debacle was fucking bullshit. We all know that. It was a fuck around, it was a fuck up. It was unprofessional and no one appreciated it. Top Rank didn’t appreciate it because if they did appreciate it, they would have made a proper purse bid. I don’t know. I’m happy, man. I’ve trained good. I feel good, I look good. I’m happy to be here, you know. It’s in Australia, it’s in my backyard. That feels fantastic. At the Star Casino. Mea [Motu]’s on my undercard so I’m happy, man. I’m ready to roll and it’s my time on Friday night. The king will have his coronation, as they say.

Fight Prediction

Alimkhanuly should prove to be a step too far for his challenger from New Zealand. The Kazakh does several things better than his opponent and it is difficult to see him losing to a fighter like Mikhailovich. Expect a stoppage win for Alimkhanuly somewhere in the middle rounds.
