Flores is ready for Ortiz Saturday night
Alexander “The Great” Flores previewed his showdown against top heavyweight contender Luis “King Kong” Ortiz on a media conference call Tuesday before they headline FOX PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes this Saturday, November 7 from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Speaking with the media on Tuesday, Flores is ready to take on Ortiz, who he thought last November was beating Deontay Wilder n their rematch until he was knocked out in the seventh round.
“I thought Ortiz was beating Wilder in the second fight. I think he just relaxed at the 10-second mark and got caught with that straight right hand at the end of the round,” Flores said on the media call.
For Flores, this is a chance to put his name up there with the top heavyweights. Despite Ortiz’s age, the one thing that Ortiz is known for is being a tricky southpaw to figure out. Something that seemed apparent in the Wilder fight.
“Ortiz is a great fighter. He’s still one of the most feared men in the division. A lot of the people on his level don’t want to fight him. His only losses coming against Deontay Wilder says everything about his quality”, Flores said.

“I’m expecting the best Luis Ortiz on Saturday night. I’m preparing for the same guy who was beating Deontay Wilder twice.”
“Beating Ortiz will put me up with the top heavyweights. I think a win is going to definitely lead to a world title fight sooner rather than later.”
Flores comes into this one a huge underdog, with many knowing him on the wrong end of a brutal knockdown from Joesph Parker back in 2018. It’s about redemption for Flores, and we’ll find out if he can do that against Ortiz Saturday night.
