Eddie Hearn Reveals Key Detail for Chris Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn

We almost got Eubank vs Benn in 2022, before it was cancelled due to failed drug tests by “The Destroyer” who tested positive for the female fertility drug clomifene. Many thought the highly anticipated catchweight fight between Chris Eubank Jr. (34-3, 25 KOs) and Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) had slipped through the net. However, Turki Alalshikh revealed via his X account that the fight has been agreed with an exact date in April and a venue in London to be revealed. Eddie Hearn has confirmed to The Stomping Ground, the agreed weight for the fight.

Hearn Highlights Crucial Update on Eubank Jr. vs Benn

Eubank and Benn have been involved in numerous back-and-forths in the build-up to this fight being confirmed and this promises to continue until fight night. It seemed it was still a major sticking point when Eubank posted on his X account: “Just so you all know… these two rats @ConorNigel & @EddieHearn are now trying to enforce a rehydration restriction on me to make the fight. However, both have now confirmed the fight and Benn’s promoter Hearn has revealed the weight for this upcoming grudge match: “The weight is at 160 which is Chris Eubank’s weight, it’s a much better hydration for him this time than it was last time,” Hearn said.

Hearn added: “Conor’s coming up two weight classes, Conor’s a welterweight, he’s coming up to fight a middleweight,” Hearn added. “Nothing is unreasonable in the contract.”

This grudge match will mark the end of a significant period of inactivity for Benn, since his laboured win over Peter Dobson. Eubank Jr. last appeared on a Riyadh Season card, defeating Kamil Szeremeta, stopping him in round seven. This fight will undoubtedly have its detractors, but it’s safe to say, many of us will be tuning in to see this grudge match finally take place.
