It had been rumoured that Errol Spence Jr’s next fight could be against Sebastian Fundora for the WBC super welterweight title. However, reports now indicate that the proposed March 29 bout is off the table, with Fundora actively seeking a new opponent. Spence, nicknamed “The Truth,” also addressed his boxing return via his X account.

Fundora-Spence has been long discussed since Spence entered the ring following Fundora’s bloody win over Tim Tszyu and said: “It’s time to get it on. He got a pretty good height, but we’ll see. We’ll break him down like we always do.”

Dan Rafael and others are reporting that the fight is dead in the water, with Fundora moving his focus onto finding a new opponent. Both fighters have suffered with injuries in recent times, but the bout was thought to be happening soon. PBC and team Fundora were ready for the fight, but it appears Spence was the one who curtailed negotiations, posting on social media: “I’ll be back when IM ready.”

“The Truth” has not been seen in the ring since his crushing defeat against Terence Crawford in 2023.

What’s Next for Fundora?

Sampson Lewkowicz, Fundora’s promoter has revealed his thoughts to Fight Freaks Unite, regarding Spence and the future of his fighter: “I wish him (Spence) good luck.”

He added: “We are looking for a rated contender for Fundora to fight on regular Prime Video.”

Fundora with his two belts looks set for a busy 2025, injuries permitting. It’s difficult to see what’s next for Spence, following this beating against “Bud” Crawford. There is also doubt over Spence’s team after his public split with career-long trainer Derrick James.
