Devin Haney Defeats Prograis via Unanimous Decision

Haney vs. Prograis marked the first fight for “The Dream” since he controversially defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko. “Rougarou” was last seen in the ring when he won an unconvincing split decision against Danielito Zorrilla.

After a cagey opening round, “The Dream” took control of the fight and dominated Prograis every round. He controlled the distance superbly and showed his superior boxing skills, landing punches from various angles almost at will. In round three, he landed a beautiful right hand – knocking down “Rougarou” and confirming his dominance.

Haney’s laser right hand stunned Prograis again in round six, which buckled his legs. As the fight progressed, “The Dream” continued to put on a boxing clinic and control the tempo. As the final round began, Haney saw out this dominating performance, with all three judges scoring the bout 120-107.

Post-Fight Quotes

When asked about his performance – in the post-fight interview, Haney said: “I did everything I said I was going to do. I handicapped him.”

When talking about how he feels at the new weight: “Tremendous difference, so much stronger.”

“The Dream” thanked the fans and teased he is thinking of moving to 147lbs in the future.

Regis Prograis was honest in his assessment of the fight: “He’s better than what I thought.” He continued: “I couldn’t seem to get to him.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn reflected on Haney at the new weight and said: “He looked fitter, better and stronger.” Hearn finished off by saying: “He’s a special, special talent.” The Matchroom head honcho also mentioned the names of Ryan Garcia, who recently returned to winning ways, and Teofimo Lopez as potential future opponents for Haney.
