Dereck Chisora wants top billing or none at all

Typically at press conferences, you tend to get fighter, promoters and everyone else in involved going thru the motions. Dereck “War” Chisora wanted to book himself in the main event of his today.

Chisora (31-9, 22 KOs) is slated to be on the World Boxing Super Series undercard on October 26th that is headlined by the junior welterweight unification bout between Regis Prograis and Josh Taylor. The British Heavyweight is against former heavyweight titleholder Joseph Parker. And, Chisora made clear at the London press conference Monday that he wasn’t settling for anything less than top billing:

“Just a couple of questions I want to clear while we’re sitting up here,” Chisora stated when it was his turn to speak during Monday’s presser “Who’s the main event of this (card)?”

Chisora’s opponent Parker was absent from the press conference, which from there gave him open fire on anyone after he asked the question out loud.

“The gentleman sitting next to you (Regis Prograis),” Eddie Hearn, Chisora’s promoter responded, apparently oblivious that the 35-year old heavyweight was serious.

Chisora replied with the following:

“That’s not going to work for me,” Chisora firmly stated, before the profanity-filled rant came. “I’m not going to sell out O2 for them guys to be the main event. We need to change that. We’re on Box Office because of this. They’re not going to sell Box Office on their own, so f*** that.

“Either put me in the main event or else pull me out of the f****n’ show.”

Chisora has been playing co-headliner recently as most recently as July as he was the co-main event on the Dillian Whyte-Oscar Rivas card where he dropped Artur Szpilka in the second round.

The f-bombs in the presser from Chisora continued.

“We haven’t heard about the Ali Trophy for the last six months, and now they want to jump up on our f****n’ show on Sky. F*** that, give me more money and we can get to business. If you can’t just tell me, you can’t.”

Prograis chimed in and stated him, and Josh Taylor were number one, and number two and Chisora snapped back “No one cares about you, bro.”

Adam Smith of Sky Sports wasn’t going to get Chisora to calm down either.

“Let me know, Adam, or I’m gonna go f***n’ ballistic,” remarked Chisora. “I’ll get on with it if you tell me if I’m the main event or not. If not, pull me out, and there won’t be no Box Office. I’m tired of selling the show. So give me some of that f****n’ money and put it in my pocket.

“I’m gonna get on with it if you tell me am I the main event or not? If not, give me more money and then we get to business. I’m sorry to do this, but I feel like you’re f****ng me with no Vaseline.”

Let’s see if Chisora gets more money at the end of the day or not but either way this presser is a doozy if you want to see the visual. Chisora takes the mic and over this around the 18:00 mark.
