Exclusive: Bakhram Murtazaliev Reacts After Tim Tszyu Demolition

On October 19 at the Caribe Royale Orlando, Orlando, Bakhram Murtazaliev (23-0, 17 KOs) demolished Tim Tszyu (24-2, 17 KOs) in three rounds, knocking the Australian down four times on the way to an impressive TKO victory, retaining his IBF super welterweight title. The No Limit Boxing and Main Events headline fight streamed exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries. Soon after the stunning win, our very own TJ Rives was able to ask a few questions to the IBF champion and his interpreter.

IBF Champ Discusses Future Plans and Potential Opponents

Following Murtazaliev’s destructive win over Tszyu, TJ asked the IBF titlist if he was still concerned about the threat of Tszyu after the first knockdown, and his interpreter said: “He didn’t think about anything. He just thought about listening to the coaches in the corner directions, and it was just a knockdown, nothing was over. It was just a knockdown.”

The IBF champion was then asked what was going through his mind after having his hand raised: “The first thing he was happy about. He thanked god, and thanked god for giving him this victory and this opportunity to be in this position.”

The big punching Russian was then asked who he would like to face next, and he said: “(Terence) Crawford, (Errol) Spence or Crawford,(Sebastien) Fundora.” His interpreter added: “Whoever has the belts, it doesn’t matter pretty much. Only people with belts.”

Murtazaliev vs. Tszyu Televised Undercard Results

Yoenis Tellez (9-0, 7 KOs) won via seventh-round technical knockout against Johan Gonzalez (35-4, 34 KOs). The Cuban fighter showed great poise and power to stop his opponent.

Endry Saavedra (16-1-1, 13 KOs) and Cesar Mateo Tapia (17-0-1, 10 KOs) fought to a majority draw in a 10-round middleweight bout. While one judge had Tapia winning 94-92, the other two saw it 93-93. It was a real back-and-forth fight with multiple knockdowns, starting the card memorably.
