Davies, on the other hand, is aiming to bounce back from his crushing first-round defeat against Ismael Barroso for the WBA Interim Super Lightweight crown. The former British and Commonwealth Champion is eager to prove he still belongs at the world level, while Adam “The Assassin” Azim seeks to continue his ascent towards the top of the division.

Interestingly, both fighters began their journeys at East London’s iconic Peacock Gym, with Azim now looking to emulate the once-feared amateur, Ohara Davies.

“The Assassin” Azim is known for his excellent footwork, which allows him to control the distance in fights. When in range, his exceptional hand speed and shot selection—switching effectively between head and body—set him apart from many of his peers.

Although Davies has undoubtedly competed at a higher level, after his last fight, this matchup is clearly a crucial make-or-break contest for him.

Both Fighters React

Davis gave his reaction to the deal: “It’s a shame that I have to hand him his first defeat,” Davies said.

Azim also spoke on the fight news: “I’m ready to make a statement and show everybody that I’m ready for the biggest names in the division.”
