Frampton wants title shot after McCreary

After several delays, Carl Frampton  is set to make his Top Rank and Super Featherweight debut this Saturday against Tyler McCreary in Las Vegas.

The last time he was in Sin City he was a champion but lost his title in a back-end of a rematch with Leo Santa Cruz in 2017. Frampton in speaking with UTV this fight week, getting a title is something he of course wants to get back.

“I want a world title fight in my next fight,” Frampton told UTV.

“This fight is at 128lbs which is right in the middle of featherweight and super-featherweight, so it gives me the option.

“Whatever comes up, I’m ready to fight any champion at super-featherweight, or featherweight, I’m happy to take it.”

Frampton was scheduled to make his return back in August but had a setback when a freak accident busted open his hand. The catchweight option that Frampton mentioned is interesting as it places him in cross hairs with two options that are both currently in the Top Rank stable.

Option one would be at featherweight and current champion there Shakur Stevenson in a choice if Josh Warringtion doesn’t become available.

The second option and what is looking like next path highly talked about is a match with current champion Jamel Herring at 130. Herring as of late would be interested in a title match on St. Patrick’s Day of next year with the Belfast boxer.

“There’s been a few guys mentioning my name which is good, I’m still a big fight for people,” Frampton mentioned.

“It’ll still attract a good audience on TV and I can bring a few fans over as well so, super-featherweight, featherweight world title next hopefully – I’ll fight any of them.”

Whichever path Frampton takes, we’ll find out down the line but the road to get there starts this weekend if he gets past McCreary.
