Daniel Dubois teases all-British heavyweight clash

On October 17 at the O2 Arena in London, Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley 2 headlined a Queensberry Promotions fight card, live on DAZN pay-per-view. The main event was for Dubois’ WBO heavyweight title. This was a rematch after their brutal encounter earlier this year. This time it was over a lot quicker, with Dubois stopping Wardley in round two. The WBO champ has spoken to Box Nation, where he teased a massive all-British clash.

Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley 2 recap

Daniel Dubois (24-3, 23 KOs) wasted no time in reminding Fabio Wardley (20-2-1, 19 KOs) who the champion is, landing a big right hand just seconds into the fight, knocking the Ipswich fighter down.

“Dynamite” couldn’t miss in those first free minutes, establishing his jab and finding a regular home for his right hand. Wardley did well to make it to the end of the round, but the minute respite was not enough as Dubois let his hands go in the second round, landing a massive uppercut, which saw the towel come in from Ben Davison and the referee jump in almost simultaneously. What a performance from Daniel Dubois who retained his WBO title in style!

Dubois teases all-British heavyweight showdown

Speaking to Box Nation about what could be next, Dubois was asked whether fighting the winner of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua is the biggest fight available for him: “Yeah, that’s a big fight regardless. That one’s a massive fight,” said Dubois.

When asked who he would prefer to face out of the two, considering Dubois has already beaten AJ, he said: “Yeah, I want the Fury fight more.”

When asked whether he believes Fury would want to fight him, the WBO champion said: “No, I think he will fight me. I think Fury is a fighting man. He’ll scratch with anyone. Scrap with anyone.”
