Oscar De La Hoya denies sexual assault claim

On Tuesday Legendary fighter and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, came out strongly against a sexual assault lawsuit that was filed Monday in Los Angeles.

First, TMZ broke the story about the suit filed by an unidentified woman, who describes herself as a licensed vocational nurse. And, she alleges graphic sexual misconduct on the part of De La Hoya that occurred in 2017:

The woman alleges that after initially having a consensual sexual relationship with De La Hoya starting in 2016, that things turned ugly in 2017 when he invited her over to his Pasadena home. This included, De La Hoya forcibly holding her down, while committing graphic sex acts against her. TMZ further reported that there’s never been a police report filed on this incident

Well, De La Hoya went on the offensive releasing a statement through Golden Boy Tuesday morning,

“A frivolous lawsuit was filed recently alleging that Oscar De La Hoya sexually assaulted ‘Jane Doe,’ which is completely false. Oscar is a very successful businessman, running one of the country’s leading sports and entertainment companies – thus a prime target.”

It is worth noting that both recent lawsuits have been filed by the same attorney who is looking to make a name for himself. We vehemently deny these allegations and look forward to vigorously defending Oscar’s good name and reputation.”  

This is not the first incident, even recently, involving the former Olympic and multi-division World Champion. Earlier in October De La Hoya was sued by former employee David Gonzalez, who claims mistreatment by De La Hoya. This even after Gonzalez says he repeatedly had to help assist De La Hoya to get out of trouble and get home, while he was “highly intoxicated” in different situations.

Gonzalez contends he was unfairly dealt with and compensated for his time working with the company.

The De La Hoya statement refers to L.A. attorney, Greg Kirakosian, filing both suits this month.

De La Hoya was married to Mexican-American pop star Millie Corretjer in 2001. They have three children together, but he has been estranged from her for the last several years.

De La Hoya was previously accused of rape at age 25 in Mexico, but was never charged. He later settled a lawsuit involved in the case in 2001.

He also has been in and out of drug and alcohol rehab including as recently as 2013. In January 2017, De La Hoya was arrested for DUI near his Pasadena home. He plead not guilty in the charges were eventually, dismissed.

De La Hoya was also the victim of an attempted extortion for $2 million last year and he admitted to FBI agents that he had been using cocaine in early 2018.

De La Hoya and Golden Boy have a massive pay-per-view involving Canelo Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev fighting for Kovalev’s WBO Light Heavyweight title November 2nd in Las Vegas. It is arguably the promotion’s biggest fight of the year.
