Frank Martin signs with Top Rank as he targets world title at super lightweight

Life at Top Rank hasn’t been easy in recent years, with the instability after the end of the ESPN deal. A deal with DAZN was subsequently reached, and life looks better for all those associated with Top Rank. Bob Arum & Co have now unveiled their latest signing, with Frank Martin signing a multi-year promotional contract with them.

Top Rank stable remains strong

Despite the instability at Top Rank in recent years, their stable remains strong with fighters such as Raymond Muratalla, Christian Mbilli, and O’Shaquie Foster, alongside rising stars such as Albert Gonzalez, Rohan Polanco, and Juanmita Lopez De Jesus.

The signing of Martin is a good addition for Top Rank, and a great move for Martin, who will now have the opportunity to fight on DAZN in cross-promotional fights, with boxers from Matchroom, Queensberry, Boxxer, and PBC.

Martin (19-1-1, 13 KOs) has shown his ability in the lightweight division, recording impressive wins against Romero Duno, Michel Rivera, and Artem Harutyunyan. He made a significant step up in quality to face Gervonta Davis in 2024. He was well in the fight, but the constant pressure from Davis wore Martin down and led to an eighth-round stoppage defeat for “The Ghost.”

Since that loss, Martin defeated Rances Barthelemy in four rounds last December, before fighting to an entertaining draw against Nahir Albright.

Now with Top Rank, Martin will campaign at super lightweight under head trainer Buddy McGirt. A return for “The Ghost” is likely for this fall.

Reflecting on signing the 31-year-old, Top Rank President Todd duBoef said: “Frank Martin has established himself as an elite talent, and the biggest opportunities of his career are still ahead of him.”

“The super lightweight division is filled with compelling matchups, and with Frank’s talent, he is positioned perfectly to capitalize. His future is bright as we work toward securing his ultimate world championship goal,” added duBoef.

Discussing joining Top Rank, Martin said:
