Zuffa Boxing sign former 118 pound world champion
Zuffa Boxing continues to strengthen its roster, with fighters across multiple weight classes, including Edgar Berlanga and Richardson Hitchins. Shakur Stevenson has also reportedly joined them, and now they have announced the signing of former bantamweight world champion Jason Moloney.
Zuffa Boxing continue to grow their stable
How you judge Zuffa Boxing on their first six months is completely fair. They have clearly been introducing bigger names as their fight cards have progressed. The signing of Stevenson and the rumoured pursuit of Oleksandr Usyk and Devin Haney are fascinating. The fight nights at the APEX in Las Vegas have been largely entertaining, despite the consistent lack of big names. The fights have been evenly matched and entertaining.
The confirmed signings of Jai Opetaia and Conor Benn were statements to the rest of the boxing world, as is their continued pursuit to implement the “Ali Revival Act.” It’s been an intriguing six months for Dana White and co, but one that shows no signs of slowing down.
Zuffa Announce Jason Moloney signing
Moloney (29-4, 20 KOs) won his world title in 2023 by majority decision against Filipino fighter Vincent Astrolabio.
He defended it successfully against Saul Sanchez before losing his belt against Yoshiki Takei in Tokyo. The Australian fighter has won two in a row, and is currently ranked the No 3 contender by the WBC.
Discussing his respect for Zuffa Boxing, Moloney said:
“I love what Zuffa is doing, giving the fans great fights every time and matching the best against the best.”
“That’s what I’m all about, fighting the best and becoming the best,” Moloney added.
Jason Moloney has fought his way back into title contention with the WBC, and a move to Zuffa should help him secure the big fights he clearly craves. What could be next for the Aussie fighter?
