Eddie Hearn names three fighters he expects to dominate boxing in the coming years

Boxing continues to have its high moments, while having its low moments with failed drug tests and cancelled flights, among other things. The elite in the sport continue to set the standards, with Terence Crawford retiring undefeated and Naoya Inoue continuing to defeat all comers. There are a plethora of fighters operating at or near the highest level, while many are trying to make their mark in the sport. Speaking to DAZN in a sit-down with Bob Arum, Eddie Hearn revealed three boxers he believes will dominate in the coming years.

The current pound-for-pound fighters

Using The Ring Magazine’s pound-for-pound top 10 list, undisputed super bantamweight world champion Naoya Inoue tops the list, with Oleksandr Usyk and Shakur Stevenson making up the top three. Despite a recent loss to Inoue, Junto Nakatani remains in the top 10 in seventh place.

Many have different opinions on how a pound-for-pound top 10 looks, but Usyk was a certainty for most until his controversial stoppage victory against Rico Verhoeven. 

Eddie Hearn predicts big futures for three fighters

Speaking with Arum, Eddie Hearn said: “When you look at the pound-for-pound list, it’s always the guys at the back end of their career. Crawford’s just done (retired); Usyk’s coming towards the end; even Inoue’s in his 30s, but he’s still got a lot left in the tank.

“Bivol’s coming up to his mid 30’s. These guys are 28, and with Zayas just 23. Quite incredible that he’s already unified and quite incredible that he’s chasing these huge fights at this age. I’m a little bit biased, and I think Jaron “Boots” Ennis is a pound-for-pound great fighter. I think “Bam” Rodriguez is an incredible fighter, and maybe there’s an Inoue fight for him on the horizon.

“I like David Benavidez. Not a Matchroom fighter, but I really like the way he goes about his work. I think he’s a guy that chases legacy.”
