Murat Gassiev recent form

Gassiev (33-2, 26 KOs, 1 NC) has recovered well since a surprise split decision loss to Otto Wallin back in 2023. Last time out, he won by sixth-round KO against Kubrat Pulev, collecting the secondary version of the WBA heavyweight world title. After Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to vacate his titles, the Russian was left as the sole WBA heavyweight titlist.

Peter Kadiru recent form

Kadiru (23-1, 13 KOs) was presented with this opportunity after Gassiev’s original opponent Tony Yoka, withdrew from the event due to a back injury. The German suffered his only career defeat back in 2022. Since then, he has won nine consecutive fights, including his last outing against Senad Gashi.

Murat “Iron” Gassiev has always carried big power throughout his career and showed this power still remains, last time out against Pulev. A unified cruiserweight champion, and now a world heavyweight champion. His body punching remains one of his best assets, as does his disciplined defence. 

Kadiru is patient with his work and picks his shots impressively. When he uses his lead hand to control the distance in fights, he looks dominating, but Gassiev, despite not being in his prime, should have too much for Kadiru, winning a competitive unanimous decision.
