Mizuki Hiruta, reigning WBO super flyweight world champ, signs new promotional deal
Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) have announced that they had signed WBO super flyweight world champion Mizuki Hiruta (11-0, 2 KOs).
The announcement was made Thursday via press release and on social media. Exact details regarding the deal, such as the number of fights it entails, were not disclosed. According to the press release, her first fight with the company will be announced separately.
Hiruta became WBO super flyweight world champion in 2022 by defeating Kanako Taniyama. She has since made seven defences of the title.
Mizuki Hiruta signs deal with MVP
“Japan has some of the best boxers in the world and Mizuki Hiruta has everything it takes to become a global superstar,” said MVP founders Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian in a press release statement.
“She’s undefeated, a world champion with seven successful title defenses, a four-time Japanese Female Fighter of the Year and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Her journey from Japan’s Self-Defense Forces to the top of women’s boxing is remarkable. Inside the ring, she’s an exceptional boxer. Outside the ring, she has the confidence, charisma and authenticity to transcend the sport. Mizuki is exactly the type of athlete we want at MVP, and we’re going to give her the platform and opportunities to become one of the biggest stars in women’s boxing. We look forward to her making her MVP debut and delivering an MVP event in Japan in the future.”
“I want to thank Most Valuable Promotions from the bottom of my heart for this incredible opportunity!” said Hiruta in the same press release. “I’m so excited to chase my dreams with MVP! I’ll turn all this gratitude into strength, keep working hard, and never lose my smile or forget who I am. I want to make everyone who supports me happy and bring smiles to as many people as possible. I want to be a one-of-a-kind SUPERSTAR! I want to be a CHINGONA! No pasa nada!”

The Big Fight Weekend verdict
Signing with MVP seems like the right choice for Hiruta. The company promotes reigning IBF super flyweight world champion Irma García who will soon face WBA titlist Nataly Delgado. Should Hiruta be interested in unifying at 115 lbs, doing so against the winner of that fight is certainly doable now that she is with MVP. The company also promotes undisputed bantamweight world champion Dina Thorslund. Should Hiruta want to move up in a weight, making a fight with the Dane would also be doable.
