Amari Jones vs. Vincenzo Gualtieri fight recap

Amari Jones (17-0, 15 KOs) had another impressive performance, this time knocking out Vincenzo Gualtieri (25-2-1, 8 KOs) in just three rounds.

The official time of stoppage was 2:29. Due to this bout being an eliminator for the IBF middleweight world title, Jones is now in line to challenge for the vacant belt. The title was previously held by Janibek Alimkhanuly who was later stripped for testing positive for a banned substance.

Jones began the fight strongly. His jab was on point and he was immediately able to land power punches. Jones would switch stances from time to time and seemed comfortable fighting out of either stance. Gualtieri appeared to be no match for the young American. It would not be long before the fight came to an end.

Gualtieri was dropped in round three from a right uppercut, left hook, and a right hand to the head. Although he got up, he was soon knocked down once again from a right uppercut followed by a left hook to the head. Although the referee began a count, he soon terminated it, making Jones the victor by stoppage in just three rounds.
