Takuma Inoue vs. Kazuto Ioka fight recap
Takuma Inoue (22-2, 5 KOs) outclassed Kazuto Ioka (32-5-1, 17 KOs), winning a unanimous decision.
Scores were 120-106, 119-107, and 118-108. Inoue remains the WBC bantamweight world champion with the win. He won the vacant title against Tenshin Nasukawa in November last year. This was his first defence.
After a period of establishing the jab and settling in, both men started throwing hooks at each other in the opening round. While Ioka had his moments, Inoue clearly did the better work. Unfortunately for the challenger, it all went downhill for him in the second round.

Ioka was rocked by a right hook to the head in the second. A barrage of punches followed that knocked him down for the first time in the fight. Ioka was dropped once more in round three, this time from a right uppercut.

Inoue mainly fought off of the back foot, having little trouble avoiding the punches coming his way. Ioka was able to avoid further knockdowns and eventually got used to the speed of his opponent’s shots, but he was clearly getting outboxed. Inoue had his way all fight. The punches that he did get hit with did little to bother him. It came as no surprise when the judges had him winning wide on the scorecards.
