Zuffa Boxing announces new Conor Benn deal
On April 11, Conor Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) fought for the first time after leaving Matchroom Boxing and signing for Zuffa Boxing in a $15 million one-fight deal, covered by Turki Alalshikh. Only days after that win and the conclusion of the one-fight deal, Zuffa have now announced that Benn has signed a multi-fight deal.

Announcing his departure from Matchroom, Benn said via a social media statement:
“First and foremost, I want to thank Eddie and the entire team at Matchroom for everything they’ve done for me over the past decade.
“From guiding me when I first turned pro, to headlining stadium shows. They were not only with me for those highlight moments but stood shoulder to shoulder with me during the tough times.
“It’s been a journey beyond anything we could have imagined, and for their belief, support, and guidance, I will always be truly grateful, but Zuffa Boxing presented me with an opportunity I simply couldn’t refuse. I’d love Eddie to continue to be part of my team and for our partnership to evolve in this new chapter.
“I’m filled with excitement and hunger for what’s ahead with Zuffa Boxing. I want the legacy fights, the biggest nights, the biggest stages. I fear no man at any weight, and I’m ready to give the fans the fights they’ve been calling for. I’m in my prime, and together we have bold, ambitious plans.”
This departure split the boxing world, with some criticising Benn, while others supported his decision. Some even speculated that Benn would move back to Matchroom after the Prograis fight, but that rumour is now done, with Benn staying with Zuffa.
Benn faced Prograis (30-4, 24 KOs) at a 150-pound catchweight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and was positively received by the crowd in attendance. It was a relatively comfortable win for the Brit with the scorecards reading 98-92 x3, all in favour of Benn.
He controlled the distance and tempo well and rarely looked bothered by anything coming back. That being said, Prograis was clearly struggling with injuries, and it felt like Benn could have turned the screw and stopped the American. Prograis did have his moments, catching Benn coming in.

In a promotional video announcing the deal, Dana White said: “What’s up, everybody. Conor and I just signed a new deal here, after the one-fight deal. Excited to have him.”
“We’re ready to put on some big fights. Welcome to Zuffa Boxing, Conor Benn,” added White.
“Yes, guys, just signed a new multi-fight deal that I’m very excited about. Our visions are aligned. Our goal remains the same: to get that world title. And more importantly, get people the fights they want. Give people the mega fights. If you guys want it, you guys can get it,” said Benn, confirming the new deal.
