Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois: Don Charles has his say
On May 9, at the Co-op Live in Manchester, live worldwide on DAZN, Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois headlines a Queensberry Promotions fight card. Wardley’s WBO world heavyweight title will be up for grabs. This fight is a fascinating all-British clash, suitably dubbed “don’t blink.” Dubois is back with Don Charles for the fight, and his trainer recently spoke to DAZN News, discussing the growth of his fighter while delivering his prediction.
Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois set for “don’t blink” showdown
Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) has enjoyed a memorable journey in boxing, showing an unbelievable will-to-win in his fights. His recent wins over Justis Huni and Joseph Parker stand out. The only blemish on his record is a 12-round draw against Frazer Clarke. He settled that in the rematch, defeating Clarke in the first round.
Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) was written off following defeats to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk, before bouncing back in style, beating Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua. A second defeat to Usyk followed, as did a brief switch to Tony Sims, before recently returning to Don Charles.
Don Charles has his say on Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois
“Daniel is maturing every day as a human being. Even if he wasn’t a fighter, he’s maturing. That’s what I see, I see maturity,” Charles told DAZN News.
“He’s a developing fighter, he’s still only 28 years old – we must remember that. What he’s achieved in his time as a professional boxer, and in his life, we have to recognise that.
“I always choose to focus on the positives but also recognise the errors that one has made and try to reduce them. We can never eradicate the errors – they will always be there – [but] try to make new mistakes. Fix the ones that you can identify.”
When asked about a potential knockout in the fight, Charles said: “Most definitely. Their knockout ratios are almost identical, so that suggests that it will be a shootout.
“It will be a shootout, but this is where you’re going to see the pedigree – the amateur system that Daniel came through will be evident. That’s what will divide them.
“Daniel is going to win, that’s my prediction. I can tell you as much that he will knock Fabio out cold!”
