Claressa Shields vs. Franchón Crews-Dezurn 2 fight recap

Claressa Shields (18-0, 3 KOs) was once again victorious via unanimous decision against Franchón Crews-Dezurn (10-3, 2 KOs, 1 NC).

Scores were 100-90 across the board. Shields remains the undisputed heavyweight world champion with the victory. She achieved the status with a win over Danielle Perkins in February last year. Shields had previously fought Crews-Dezurn in 2016.

Both women started swinging at each other the moment the fight began. Although this style of fighting resulted in clinches from time to time, Shields was able to land the more precise work. The relatively smaller ring kept both boxers in close range of each other.

Crews-Dezurn’s pace slowed as the bout progressed. This allowed Shields to pick her apart. The undisputed champion was able to maintain her chosen pace and showed no signs of exhaustion. Shields did get tagged on occasion, but it was otherwise a routine championship defence for her. She dominated each of the rounds with cleaner punching and ultimately got the win on the scorecards.

Che Kenneally vs. Danielle Perkins fight recap

Danielle Perkins (6-1, 3 KOs) won in brutal fashion against Che Kenneally (5-1, 2 KOs), winning by sixth round technical knockout.

The official time of stoppage was 1:45. Perkins is now the WBA light heavyweight world champion with the victory. This is her first time winning a professional world title.

Both women connected with hard shots early in the opening round. Perkins applied constant pressure that overwhelmed her opponent. Kenneally sought to counterpunch while being on the backfoot, but struggled to keep the challenger off her. Perkins began showboating, a sign that she felt comfortable with how things were going.

A left hook followed by a hard right upstairs dropped Kenneally in round six. Although she got up, referee Benjamin Rodriguez put an end to proceedings after deeming her to be in no position to continue. The pressure of Perkins helped her get the stoppage, allowing her to become the newest light heavyweight world champion.

Undercard on DAZN

Atif Oberlton (15-0, 13 KOs) won via first round technical knockout against Joseph George (13-2, 8 KOs). The official time of stoppage for this 10-round light heavyweight clash was 3:00. George collapsed after returning to his corner following the conclusion of the opening round. He was able to rise to his feet and leave the ring.
