Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua press conference quotes and fight prediction
Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) will soon clash in an eight-round heavyweight contest.
Their bout headlines a Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) card at the Kaseya Arena in Miami, FL. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live on Netflix.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their Dec. 19 encounter. Below is some of what they had to say.
Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua press conference quotes
Jake Paul
“Yeah, absolutely [Joshua takes me seriously],” said Paul. “And rightfully so. It’s smart on his part, but I believe he’s locked in and knows that this could potentially be the biggest loss and will be the biggest loss of his career. He has so much to lose in this fight. That’s what I plan on bringing to the table is the strategy behind this. I’ve got him in the corner and I know that those nerves are going to kick in once he sees what I can do to him.”
“Let’s fucking go, bro. Let’s put on a show for the fans. Let’s go to war. Men have done crazier things throughout human history. This is the modern day gladiator sport. This is what we’re here to do is fuck each other up and I’m ready. I want his hardest punches. I want there to be no excuses when it’s all said and done, and let’s fucking kill each other.”
Anthony Joshua
“It’s my job,” said Joshua. “We fight. We’re licensed to kill. I’m sure many people don’t understand it, but this is what my job is. When you’re in that ring, it’s a dangerous place to be and anything can happen. You hope your opponent leaves the ring safely, but if they don’t, you still have to go to bed knowing that you just done your job. It wasn’t personal.”
“People don’t like the fact that I’m fighting Jake. Whether that concerns me or not is another question. But if we look at the people that don’t want me to be here, but they want me to put an end to Jake Paul’s show, I understand it and that’s why I have to carry boxing on my back with this fight.”
Fight prediction
The difference in ability is vast. This is not quite like Joshua’s fight against Francis Ngannou. Paul has specifically trained in boxing for over five years now. However, that will simply not be enough. Joshua is experienced and knows how to deal with fighters of Paul’s calibre. This should not take long. Expect Joshua to get the knockout in two rounds.
