Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn 2 press conference quotes and fight prediction
Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) and Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) clash once again in a 12-round middleweight contest.
Their bout headlines a card presented by Riyadh Season, The Ring, SELA, Matchroom Boxing, and BOXXER – in association with Queensberry Promotions and Goldstar Promotions. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live as a pay-per-view (PPV) on DAZN. Note: Eubank-Benn 2 is an event that is part of Riyadh Season, a state-funded entertainment and sports festival. The Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority is responsible for its organization.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their November 15 rematch. Below is some of what they had to say.
Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn 2 press conference quotes
Chris Eubank Jr.
“I’m not here to talk about my feelings or my emotions,” said Eubank. “I’m here to talk about things that are bothering me and that I think I should shine a light on as I always do at these press conferences. [Proceeds to accuse Eddie Hearn and Matchroom of preventing his head of security from attending the fight].
“Who won the fight, Conor?” he said when Benn claimed to have “taken” his soul. “If you take a man’s soul, that usually means you won the fight. I’ve never seen someone’s soul get taken and they still win. The truth is we both ended up in hospital and I was there for dehydration and you were there for the punishment you took.”
Conor Benn
“I do [think that I ‘took’ Chris Eubank’s soul in the first fight],” said Benn. “In fact, he was in hospital for three days. I was back in the gym. He threw double the amount of punches. I was back in the gym on the Sunday. For me, the most damage was done in the fight. I believe I inflicted a lot more pain. His work rate was incredible. His resilience, his strength, his spirit, his athleticism, his experience, he used really well. Took me by surprise and he’s a better fighter than I thought he was first off. But I’m ready to take what’s left [of his soul] come Saturday.”
Fight prediction
The first fight between the pair proved to be a lot more competitive than expected, especially given the size disparity between the two. That being said, Eubank still won a clear unanimous decision. Fight fans should expect him to do the same once again, perhaps in more dominant fashion. Benn’s size will be a limitation in the rematch. He has also not scored a stoppage since clomifene was found in his body, so do not expect a stoppage out of him. Eubank to win via clear unanimous decision.
