Deontay Wilder’s former trainer reveals the two closest fighters to Terence Crawford
Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) reached the pinnacle of boxing following his win over Canelo Alvarez to become the undisputed super middleweight champion.
After his historical win on September 13, “Bud” has received deserved praise from the sporting world, and Deontay Wilder’s former trainer, Malik Scott, has spoken to Jackpot City Casino, revealing the two closest fighters to Crawford.
Terence Crawford creates history Against Canelo Alvarez
Terence Crawford was exemplary in Las Vegas. He timed his attacks perfectly throughout the fight, putting together fast, accurate, and powerful combinations, leaving Canelo frustrated for much of the bout.
The judges’ scorecards read 116-112 and 115-113 (x2) in favour of Crawford.
Malik Scott reveals the two closest fighters to Crawford
When discussing Terence Crawford, Malik Scott revealed who he believes are the two fighters closest to the all-conquering Omaha native:
“Boots Ennis and Zhanibek Alimkhanuly are the closest things that comes to Terence Crawford because they have a deep bag. They got nine or ten different packages in their bag. They can go real, real deep and pull out an agility package. They can pull out a slip game package, they could pull out a southpaw package. They could pull out a directional movement package. There’s so much stuff they go to.”
After Crawford’s brilliant win over Canelo, his trainer Brian McIntyre spoke to Fight Hub TV, revealing how many fights Crawford has left:
“Well, you know what? He made it look so easy. S**t. Two, three more (fights) in him. Training camp, we’ll try harder.”
McIntyre was then asked if a move to 160 could be on the cards, and said: “I mean, if he wanna do it, you know. Be a challenge, if he wanna challenge himself, I don’t mind.”
It remains to be seen what comes next for Crawford, but other fighters are looking to cement their place in the top-10 pound-for-pound list, including Ennis (35-0, 31 KOs) and Alimkanuly (17-0, 12 KOs).
As teased by McIntyre, a move to middleweight for Crawford is not out of the question, with Alimkanuly vs Erislandy Lara set for a unification bout on December 6. Could Crawford fight the winner? Or wait for the winner to face Carlos Adames and fight for all four belts at 160 pounds.
