Lourdes Juárez vs. Yesica Nery Plata live results update

Lourdes Juárez vs. Yesica Nery Plata fight recap

Lourdes Juárez (39-4, 5 KO, 1 NC) had to battle hard in order to get the majority decision victory against Yesica Nery Plata (30-3, 3 KOs).

While one judge saw it 95-95, the other two had it 96-94 for Juárez. She remains the WBC light flyweight world champion with the result. Juárez won the title in November last year against Yesenia Gomez. This was her second defence of it.

The opening round saw the reigning champion press forward with both women mainly throwing straight punches at each other. Juárez was constantly switching stances, but it did not impact the challenger’s ability to land punches. By round three, both women were exchanging multiple hooks with each other.

Nery Plata appeared to be landing the harder shots throughout the fight. Her jab also allowed her to set up many of her punches. Juárez kept things competitive by exchanging hooks at close quarters with her opponent. In the end, however, two of the judges preferred the work of the reigning champion and had her the victor.

Desley Robinson vs. Logan Holler fight recap

Desley Robinson (11-3, 4 KOs) needed only two rounds to claim a technical knockout win over Logan Holler (11-4-1, 4 KOs).

The official time of stoppage was 1:08. Robinson remains the WBO and IBF middleweight world champion with the victory. She became the IBF titlist in December last year with a win over Kaye Scott. Robinson then added the WBO title by beating Chloe Chaos earlier this year.

A right hook to the body followed by a left upstairs sent Holler falling backwards onto the ropes in round two. Although a count was issued, the fight would not last much longer. Robinson landed a barrage of punches to the head of her opponent, causing referee Ellis Johnson to step in with Holler still standing.

Undercard on DAZN

Omar Juarez (20-2, 7 KOs) won a unanimous decision against Omar Rosario (14-3, 4 KOs). Scores for their 10-round super lightweight contest were 99-89 (x2) and 97-91. Rosario lost a point in the seventh for holding. He lost another point in round 10 for pushing down on Juarez.

Ronny Alvarez (5-0, 4 KOs) won via fifth round technical knockout against Bruno Pola (10-4-1, 9 KOs). The official time of stoppage for this six-round super middleweight bout was 2:28. Pola had been taking a lot of punishment throughout the fight and his corner eventually put an end to proceedings.

Undercard on YouTube

On a portion of the undercard that was broadcast on YouTube, Shurretta Metcalf (15-5-1, 2 KOs) won a unanimous decision against Krystal Rosado (7-1, 2 KOs). Scores for their eight-round bantamweight clash were 78-74 (x2) and 77-75.

Alexis Chaparro (6-0, 6 KOs) won via sixth round technical knockout against David Gutierrez (4-1, 2 KOs). The official time of stoppage for their six-round middleweight contest was 0:25. Gutierrez appeared to be in no position to continue for much of the fifth. However, the fight was allowed to enter round six. Chaparro landed a barrage of punches upstairs that dropped his opponent. Referee Johnson terminated proceedings before reaching the count of 10.

Miranda Reyes (8-3-1, 3 KOs) won a unanimous decision against Yolanda Vega (10-2, 1 KOs). Scores for their eight-round lightweight bout were 80-72 (x2) and 79-73.

Sebastian Juarez (10-0, 8 KOs) won via first round technical knockout against Demarcus Layton (10-8-1, 7 KOs). The official time of stoppage for this absolutely outrageous six-round super welterweight contest was 2:59.

Juarez was first dropped by a right hook upstairs. He was clearly dazed despite getting up and unable to follow referee Laurence Cole’s instructions. Cole still allowed the fight to continue. Juarez was then deducted a point for holding not long after the knockdown. He lost a second point for holding only 10 seconds later. In a shocking turn of events, Layton was knocked down by a right hook to the head with less than a minute left in the round. After getting up, he dropped for a second time shortly after from an overhand right. Cole ended proceedings when Layton was knocked down a third time from a left and right hook to the head.

Pedro Veitia (6-0-1, 6 KOs) and Xavier Zuñiga (4-0-1, 3 KOs) fought to a split draw in their six-round super welterweight clash. One judge had it 60-54 for Veitia. Another saw it 58-56 for Zuñiga while a third had it 57-57. This set of scorecards stunned the commentators who believed that Veitia had won a comfortable decision.

Edgar Rosales (6-0, 2 KOs) won a unanimous decision against Reggie Ray Martinez (6-1-1, 1 KO). Scores for their four-round lightweight bout were 40-36 and 39-37 (x2).
