Five of the Best Boxers Under 25 on the Planet

Boxing fans are always looking out for the next group of promising boxers coming through. Every boxer has their own journey, so no one can say for sure whether a fighter will become a World Champion one day, just like you can’t predict where the ball will land when you play roulette online, but we have been monitoring some of the best promising boxers under 25. Here’s a look at five promising boxers who we believe are near the top of their respective division. Each fighter demonstrates the ability to obtain world championships.

Promising Boxers: 5 Who Could Become World Champions

1. Moses Itauma (20,Heavyweight, 13-0, 11 KOs)

What can you say about Moses Itauma that hasn’t already been said. He moves like a middleweight and punches like a heavyweight. He recently stopped Dillian Whyte in the first round, and has blown away most opponents in quick time. The sky really appears the limit for the Slovakian-born Brit, with Agit Kabayel and Filip Hrgovic mentioned as potential next opponents.

It remains to be seen just how far Itauma can go, but so far he’s past every test with flying colours.

2. Ernesto Mercado (23, Super Lightweight, 17-0, 16 KOs)

Ernesto “Tito” Mercado has become one of the most exciting young fighters to watch in recent times. With 16 knockouts in 17 fights, Mercado’s punching power is a significant threat to anyone in the Super Lightweight weight class. He’s already scored victories against notable opponents like Jeremia Nakathila, who has shared the ring with some of the best in the division. Tito is still in the early stages of his career, but his quick progression suggests that a title shot could be possible. Tito belongs on our most promising boxers list.

3. Adam Azim (23, Super Lightweight, 13-0, 10 KOs)

Adam Azim, known as “The Assassin,” is another rising star from the UK and another Super Lightweight on our list. At 23, Azim has already secured 13 wins, with 10 coming by way of knockout. His combination of speed, footwork, and precise shot selection makes him another young fighter to watch closely. Azim under the guidance of his trainer, Shane McGuigan, looks destined for the top and surpassing his place on our promising boxers list.

4. Francesca Hennessy (20, Super Bantamweight, 6-0, 1 KO)

Francesca Hennessy enjoyed an impressive 2024, winning three times, including a win over previously undefeated Ana Karla Vaz De Moraes to win the WBA intercontinental title. She impressed on the all-female Royal Albert Hall card, defeating Gemma Ruegg. Hennessy’s ring walks are memorable, but her performances inside the ring are now making the headlines. Her slick movement and tenacity should lead her towards a positive ending in 2025.

5. Jadier Herrera (22, Lightweight, 17-0, 15 KOs)

Jadier Herrera fights under the Queensberry Promotions banner and has a scary amount of ability. His last bout, where he stopped Jose Rodolfo Macias Enriquez, showed he’s still very much a work in progress. He was too easy to hit in that fight, but the 22-year-old Cuban looks set for a bright career.

When he works off his jab and lets his hands go, Herrera is a scary talent. He carries plenty of power and picks his shots impressively. It remains to be seen when the Cuban will be back in action, but we recommend tuning in and being entertained.
