Pound for Pound Boxing Rankings: Tony Bellew Ranks His Top Five
Usyk Tops the List – But Who Else Makes It?
When talking to Esports Insider, Bellew was asked to rank his top five pound-for-pound boxers in the world: “Bam’s (Jesse Rodriguez) right up there. He suffers because he’s in the lighter weight divisions, as they always do and as they always have done. But Bam, for me, is an exceptional talent. Top five pound-for-pound in the world without a shadow of a doubt. I think he’s just exceptional. I have Usyk number one, Terence Crawford at number two, Canelo at number three, Naoya Inoue at number four and Bam number five.”

Pound for Pound Boxing Rankings: Breaking Down Bellew’s List
Looking at Bellew’s top five, it’s difficult to disagree with most of his picks. Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) will be number one on many lists. His domination at cruiserweight and heavyweight has helped cement the Ukrainian’s legacy. Despite fighting once a year since 2020, Crawford’s career has excelled, and when he defeated Errol Spence Jr, it catapulted him into a new stratosphere. Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) will take on the ultimate challenge on September 13 when he faces Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas.

That leads us into third place, which is occupied by Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs). When you look at the Mexican’s career, it’s difficult to argue with his inclusion. He has achieved everything in the sport. However, his recent performances haven’t aged well, and he will have to be at his best to deal with Crawford in September.
The final two positions are taken up by Naoya Inoue (30-0, 27 KOs) and Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (22-0, 15 KOs). Despite being knocked down against Ramon Cardenas, Inoue continues to win in dominating fashion, and now with Riyadh Season, big fights beckon for “The Monster.” Rodriguez has dazzled at the lower weights, winning world titles at flyweight and super flyweight. “Bam” will return to action on November 22 against Fernando Martinez for the unified WBC, WBO and WBA super flyweight titles.
