Three Ukrainian Boxers to Watch for the Remainder of 2025

Of the many countries that have produced prodigious boxers, Ukraine can count itself amongst them. The Klitschko brothers and Vasyl Lomachenko are just some of the many Ukrainian boxers who have made a name for themselves. While they are currently retired, other Ukrainians continue to show that the country is not lacking in talent. Below, Big Fight Weekend presents three boxers from Ukraine that you should keep an eye on for the remainder of 2025.

Three Ukrainian Boxers to Watch for the Remainder of 2025

Ukrainian Boxers: Oleksandr Usyk

Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) is without question the best active boxer out of Ukraine. He has reigned as an undisputed champion at cruiserweight and heavyweight in addition to possessing several accolades from his time in the amateur system. Currently a unified titlist at heavyweight, Usyk is someone boxing fans should have on their must-watch list.

At the moment, he is scheduled to rematch Daniel Dubois on July 19. The fight gives him the opportunity to reclaim the IBF world title which he had vacated last year. Regardless of the result against Dubois, attention following the fight will turn towards his next steps. Will Usyk retire or carry on? That is something boxing fans will only know if they keep tabs on Usyk for the remainder of this year.

Serhii Bohachuk

One of the hardest-hitting Ukrainian boxers today is Serhii Bohachuk (26-2, 24 KOs). The majority of his fights have taken place in the United States, but he has also fought in Russia, Saudi Arabia and México. At one point, Bohachuk was 18-0 with all of those victories being stoppages.

The Ukrainian has fought just once this year, winning a unanimous decision against Mykal Fox in May. According to Manouk Akopyan of The Ring, a “big fight” is being targeted in the fall for Bohachuk. Who he ends up facing remains to be seen.

Daniel Lapin

Daniel Lapin (11-0, 4 KOs) is a light heavyweight whose height of 6’6″ makes him significantly taller than the boxers he faces. A training partner of Usyk whom he has known since they were kids, Lapin has fought on a number of undercardsthat featured the unified heavyweight champion. He is also ranked fifteenth and eighth with the IBF and WBA, respectively.

Lapin is currently scheduled to face Lewis Edmondson on the undercard of Usyk vs. Dubois 2 in what will be his first fight of 2025. A win over the undefeated Brit would allow him to make further inroads at light heavyweight and set up a showdown with a top contender sooner rather than later. This could be a pivotal year for Lapin.
