3 Fighters Making a Comeback in Summer 2025
The boxing schedule is already shaping up with a host of big fights confirmed and plenty more rumoured. The summer months look set to deliver a stacked calendar, with RTbet Casino gearing up for the excitement as three fighters prepare to make their comeback over the summer.
Boxing Schedule: 3 Comebacks This Summer
Deontay Wilder
Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs), one of the most feared punchers in heavyweight boxing of all time, returns to action on June 27 against Tyrrell Herndon (24-5, 15 KOs). The return of the “Bronze Bomber” will take place on a Global Combat Collective card at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita. Having lost 4 of his last five fights, the question remains: What does Wilder have left?
Wilder recently discussed his impending return on DAZN’s Ariel x Ade: The Boxing Show, revealing the extensive injury problems he’s dealt with in recent years: “Anybody who knows about shoulder injuries knows that it’s one of the longest injuries you can go through, and I ended up injuring my shoulder at one point in time, and it healed,” said “The Bronze Bomber.”
He added: “Then I ended up having an accident, falling on the same shoulder and then I had to start the process over again.
“Every time I threw my right hand; it would be nothing but pain.”
The return of “The Bronze Bomber” is one many fight fans will be marking on their boxing schedule.
Manny Pacquiao
The return of Manny Pacquiao has been confirmed, with “Pac Man” confirming on his X account that he will fight Mario Barrios on July 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the WBC welterweight world title. The bout will be for the WBC welterweight title, held by Barrios.
The announcement on social media from Pacquiao read: I’m back. On July 19, I return to the ring to face WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Dan Rafael revealed in his Fight Freaks Unite Substack that Pacquiao will reunite with Freddie Roach for this fight, with Sean Gibbons the president of Pacquiao’s MP Promotions confirming the reunion: “They haven’t seen other in four years and Manny walked into the gym and Freddie was there and there were big smiles and big hugs.”
“They chatted for a few minutes and went to work like they hadn’t missed a day. It was a like a time warp. Nobody missed a beat. It was like, ‘We’re back, we’re working, and we have a fight to prepare for.’”
Holly Holm
Not many fight fans would have had Holly Holm returning to boxing on their boxing schedule bingo card, but Most Valuable Promotions recently unveiled the signing of boxing pioneer and MMA trailblazer Holly Holm (33-2, 9 KOs).
Holm will make her return to boxing on June 28, against Yolanda Vega (10-0, 1 KO) at Madison Square Garden, her first fight under boxing rules since 2013, when she defeated Mary McGhee (100-90 x3) to retain her IBA and WBF super lightweight titles.
Looking ahead to this new journey in her fighting career, Holm said: “I’m excited to partner with Most Valuable Promotions and return to the boxing ring.”
“This new chapter is going to be an exciting journey, and I’m looking forward to the challenge. Coming full circle back to boxing-I’ve spent most of my MMA career at 135 pounds, and now I have the opportunity to make my boxing debut at that weight. With boxing titles in three higher weight classes under my belt, I’m eager to pursue a fourth title in a new division.”
