Usyk vs. Dubois 2: The Battle for the Undisputed Heavyweight Crown
Tony Bellew Discusses Daniel Dubois’ Devastating Power
Usyk and Dubois first met on August 26, 2023, in Stadion Wroclaw, Wroclaw, Poland, with Usyk winning by ninth-round KO. The mercurial Ukrainian was comfortable for most of the fight, showcasing excellent footwork and constantly pressuring Dubois. Controversy arose in round five when Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) went down after a punch that was correctly ruled a low blow. This moment adds an extra layer of intrigue to their upcoming rematch.
Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) will need to produce a career-best performance to have any chance against Usyk. The Ukrainian showed his class over his two fights against Tyson Fury, thoroughly deserving both wins.
Many fighters across various weight classes possess fight-ending power, including Gervonta Davis, Terence Crawford and Vergil Ortiz. However, the biggest punchers are often found in the heavyweight division, with Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder being two of the most notable in recent years.
Daniel Dubois: Deadly Right Hand
When discussing power and who has the deadliest right hand in boxing, Bellew said: “Daniel Dubois’ is up there. His right hand is an extremely dangerous shot. He’s very powerful. Naoya Inoue is another one. But for the one shot, Daniel Dubois’ right hand is probably the most deadly right hand in boxing. It is devastating. But he’s got to believe in himself more, in my opinion. I do think he’s massively improved. I think he came of age against AJ.”
